The University of the Arts Multimedia Department Seniors to Show at Vox Populi
PHILADELPHIA, PA, April 18, 2005 - Graduating seniors of The University of the Arts Multimedia Department will host an opening reception of their juried thesis show at Vox Populi on Friday May 6th from 6 to 11 pm. Vox Populi is located on the 4th flloor of the Gilbert Building, at 1315 Cherry Street. Sponsored by UArts' College of Media and Communication and Multimedia Department and with help from Yana Balson, executive director of Vox Populi, the work includes interactive installations, websites, videos and more. Both the reception and show, which runs through Friday, May 27, are free and open to the public. Multimedia seniors Amy DeRemer and John Benson worked together as curator and designer, respectively, to feature Vox Populi's four rooms by housing an archive of past and current work of the graduating students. The show's jury includes UArts Multimedia Department Director Chris Garvin, Assistant Professor DeAngela Duff, and Multimedia alumni Bill Gastrock (2001), Keri Knowles (2002), and Adam Baker (2003). "I'm always impressed by the diversity of our student work," said Garvin. "We're looking forward to this year's show and hope to continue collaborating with important Philadelphia venues like Vox Populi. It will be exciting to follow these young artists' careers after graduation." In addition to this show, senior Justin Rauschkolb will curate a Multimedia film screening at the University's Arts Bank, 601 South Broad Street, on Friday May 13th at 7 p.m. For more information about the gallery, visit http://www.voxpopuligallery.org Download Press Release (PDF) |
