An exploration in game play through subverting game play, Shocktag targeted frustration and intrigue, as well as fear and excitement into its players. It deals with recontextualization on a few levels. One being that the game piece originated from an electric grill starter. While another being the entire notion of playing a game. It challenges the idea of a reward system and leads one to question exactly what the reward for playing might be.
